JIM NEUMAN:  James Walter "Jim" Neuman was born in Chicago but grew up in East Los Angeles.  He graduated from University of Southern California (USC). During his college years he trained for the Olympics in Cycling but his Olympic hopes were dashed when his draft number loomed, leading him to join the US Navy, where  he served five tours in Vietnam. He then served in the Naval Reserve for sixteen more years and retired, as a Lieutenant-Commander, culminating 20 years of combined active and reserve service.

Following service in Vietnam, Jim worked for American Honda Motor Company and later was the first National Distribution Manager for the young Subaru Motor Company.  In 1976 he joined with Dr. Allan Lifson, who was to become his 37 year love and 50+ year business partner to form California Educational Consultant Group, Inc., a company dedicated to continuing education.

Jim has always been a big supporter of the performing arts and was involved for six years with the Los Angeles cast of Phantom of the Opera in fundraising efforts for Broadway Cares and Equity Fights AIDS and for one year with the LA cast of Sunset Boulevard. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He is a Founder at the Orange County Performing Arts Center; the Cerritos Center For The Performing Arts; the McCallum Theatre; and patron to the Australian Ballet; ABT and New York City Ballet among many others and is a past member of the American Theatre Wing that mounts the TONY awards in New York City. He has presently become a donor to the Cathedral City Senior Center, the Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation, and Tools For Tomorrow in support of after school programs for young students and the Palm Springs International Piano Competition.

In 2006 Jim met his present partner, Dick Shapero of San Carlos, California. Then, in 2010 Jim bought a another house in Palm Springs and ‘rescued' the 5500 square foot Old Las Palmas neighborhood home, Casa Lola, from bank foreclosure.  It is the 1938 Mission Revival Estate of the late Kate Smith (“God Bless America”) and is where Jim resides today.
